Menu Plan Monday, April 29th to March 4th (The Frugal Edition)

This week was an interesting week for menu planning. I like to purchase all of my groceries the week before I cook it. I have no idea why I do it that way, it's just one of those things that I do. Don't ask me why. This past week I only had $50 left in my grocery budget for the month to feed my family of six. This does not include my Easter menu as I have already been picking up items for that, and have everything I need already at home.
I am doing my menu plan a little different this week and breaking down my cost. I might even make this a normal part of my menu plan so people can see how much I spend. This is the first month that I willingly reduced my grocery budget from $450 per month to $350 per month. I knew it might be difficult to actually feed six people on $350 but I wanted to see if I could get it done.

Here's what I have planned:

Monday - Roasted Red Pepper Chicken Penne (New Recipe)
This was the only recipe that I had to buy pretty much everything for but I saw it last week and it looked so good I just had to try it.

Cost Breakdown:
64 oz. bag of Chicken Breast Tenderloins $6.99 (the whole bag won't be used on this meal)
Roasted Red Peppers $2.39
Can of Mushrooms $0.59
Ronzoni Smart Taste Penne Pasta $1.69 with $1 off coupon making them $0.69
2 Bags Sargento Shredded Mozerella $2 each with $0.55 off 2 coupon making it $1.72 per bag
All other spices I have in my pantry

Tuesday - Italian Sausages with Green Peppers and Onions (recipe to follow soon), Homemade Hoagie Rolls (recipe to follow soon), Seasoned Potatoes

Cost Breakdown:
2 packages Sweet Italian Sausages $2.69 each
Ingredients for everything else coming from pantry

Wednesday - Jennie O Turkey Breast with Gravy, Mashed Potatoes, Corn

Everything is coming from the freezer and pantry

Thursday - Picante Chicken and Rice Bake (New Recipe)

Using Chicken from the bag of chicken used above with all other ingredients coming from the pantry.

Friday - Going to Church so we will be eating out

Saturday - Our Family Easter Dinner, see the menu HERE

Sunday - Roast Beef and Gravy, Mashed Potatoes

Cost Breakdown:
$1.39 for Onion Soup Mix
All other ingredients coming from my freezer and pantry
