Every week I find recipe after recipe online of recipes that I like, that I want to try, and that I use. The problem with finding recipes online is trying to figure out how to organize them. I have tried several different methods over the years, and currently do a combination of them all. Here are some ideas for you to try.
Print Them Out
Printing recipes out is one of the easiest ways to organize recipes that you find online. Once I have printed out a recipe, I use a three-hole punch to punch holes in it, and then place it in it's proper place in a three ring binder that is kept in the kitchen. The three ring binder is organized with tabs labeled Soup Recipes, Bread Recipes, Cake Recipes, Pork Recipes, Beef Recipes, well you get the idea....
There are a couple of advantages to printing out recipes, and placing them in the binder. For one they are easy to access, you don't have to bring your laptop to the kitchen or go online to find them. Two, you can write notes on the recipes for changes you have made to the recipe.
Save Recipes as a Word Document
When I find a recipe that I like online I will often cut and paste the recipe and save it to a word document, including the link to the original online recipe. This way I can make changes or corrections to the recipe easily. I store these recipes in a special folder on my computer. Another way that this can be done is to save the webpage as a PDF document to your computer, and file it in the same folder.
Save to Your Favorites Menu
When I am planning my menu out each week I am almost always online. While I can search through my Recipe Binder for recipes I really do prefer to have my recipes on my computer. For this reason I save the links to my online recipes in my Favorites Menu. On my Favorites Menu I have several folders labeled much the same way as my Recipe Binder, these folders are names Soup Recipes, Beef Recipes, Chicken Recipes, Pork Recipes, Cake Recipes, they are exact same labels as in my Recipe Binder. Once I find a recipe online that I like I simply save it to the correct folder on my favorites menu.
