It's been a while since I have had the time to write a Tempt My Tummy Tuesday post, so I have plenty of new recipes to share. This recipe came about on a cold, rainy day when my daughter requested chili and I did not have the ingredients to make my normal chili recipe. I had purchased a few cans of Rotel Diced Tomatoes and Green Chiles because they were on sale but I had no clue what to use them in. I decided to use them in my chili, and adjusted the spices to compensate for the green chiles. The chili actually turned out great, it was spicy, but my husband said he thought it was the best chili I had ever made, so it's definitely a keeper. Here is the recipe I came up with:
2 cans Rotel Diced Tomatoes and Green Chiles
2 Cans Mild Chili Beans (you can use hot beans for a spicier chili)
2 pounds hamburger
1 tablespoon garlic powder
l onion diced
3 tablespoons minced garlic
1 1/2 teaspoons black pepper
1 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons chili powder
2 teaspoon cumin
1 1/2 Quarts of Water
1. In skillet add in hamburger, sprinkle with 1 tablespoon garlic powder, and brown. Once hamburger is browned drain off grease.
2. Add hamburger and all ingredients into a large soup pan.
3. Turn heat on medium-high and allow chili to come to a boil.
4. Once chili has begun to boil, reduce heat to low. Allow chili to simmer for two to three hours stirring frequently.
