Fit Mommy Friday - Week One

For quite a while now I have known I have needed to lose some weight, not just a pound or two but sixty-one pounds.  Do you know how overwhelming it is to try to lose sixty-one pounds?  It seems like an insurmountable task.  With such a long journey ahead of me I know I will need support along the way.  That is why I have decided to join Denise's Fit Mommy Friday Meme at Got Chai? and this will be my first Fit Mommy Friday post!

So one of the first things Denise suggests doing is to set goals for yourself.  This is something that I have been working on and here are the goals that I have come up with to get me started

  • Reduce calorie intake to between 1200-1550 calories per day, with a daily carbohydrate range 135-252, and a daily fat gram range of 27-60 grams per day
  • I will track my calorie intake using the Spark People phone app
  • I will exercise at least 30 minutes per day three days a week, with a total of ninety minutes of exercise each week
  • My goal is to lose two pounds per week, and to have lost a total of sixy-one pounds by October 17, 2011
One of my biggest hurdles right now is finding a time to work out.  Working out for me is usually done in the morning before work, which means I have to get up at 4:45 AM, go to the YMCA, get back home, take a shower, and be ready to leave for work by 7:15. 

Another hurdle for me is drinks.  I am a caffeine addict.  I need to drink more water. 

My husband loves to snack at night while watcing tv.  This is a HUGE hurdle for me because I always want to snack with him.

So now I have laid it all out there.  I am hoping that by opening up and sharing my journey it will help to hold me more accountable to my weight loss goal.
