Starting to Homeschool When Dad Isn't On Board

One of the biggest obstacles that face many moms who have decided to homeschool their kids is getting dad on board. It is a question that is constantly repeated on homeschool support boards, “What do I do when my husband doesn’t want me homeschooling our children?”This question is always met with a variety of answers such as “pray for a change in your husband’s heart” or “just do it anyhow”.If you are a mom who is trying to get your husband on board with homeschooling these are not the types of answers that you want to hear. You want to hear real advice, with real steps that you can put it into action.

Pray Yes, I did say that praying for your husband to have a change of heart wasn’t the answer you were looking for but if you are a Christian then praying should be your first step.Pray for guidance, pray for your husband to have a change of heart, pray for your children, pray, pray, and pray some more.

Garden Stir Fry Recipe

My garden has been in overdrive producing an abundance of yummy vegetables.  I have been turning those yummy vegetables into some great meals and this is one of my favorite ones.  It is easy to make and can be easily tweaked to use what you have on hand.  I had mushrooms in my refrigerator the day that I made this meal but have left the mushrooms out the last couple of times.  I also served it over noodles here but have served it without as well for a side dish.  Here's the super simple recipe: 1-2 cups Tomatoes - any type, cut cherry tomatoes in half and dice full size tomatoes 1/2 onion diced 1 cup diced mushrooms 2-3 cups diced squash 2 tablespoons minced garlic 2 tablespoons olive oil 1.  Heat olive oil over medium high heat in a skillet. 2.  Add in vegetables and cook until they are tender. 3.  Serve hot over pasta for a full meal or serve by itself as a side dish.

Menu Plan Monday, July 15th to 21st

Join us for Menu Plan Monday at I'm an Organizing Junkie. This week is a bit different for me I will only be cooking for four since Little Man is at camp this week.  It is his first time ever going to camp and I am sure he will have a blast.  It is also extremely HOT around here this week.  The temperatures were in the upper 90's but the heat index made it feel like it was in the 100's.  We don't eat a lot when it is so hot outside, and I really don't want to heat up the house too much when it is this hot so our menu this week will be reflecting that.  So here's what I have planned for this week: links to recipes are in red Monday Lunch:  Soup Dinner:  Garden Stir Fry Tuesday Lunch:  Soup and Sandwiches Dinner:  Pizza using the Flatbread Pizza Dough from this recipe Wednesday Breakfast:  Oatmeal, Fresh Fruit Dinner:  Baked Shrimp Egg Rolls, White Rice Thursday Lunch:  BBQ Pork Chops, Pressure Cooker Cabbage, Mashed Potatoes Dinner:  Ham Sandwiches, Chips Friday Brea…

Menu Plan Monday, July 8th to 14th

Join us for Menu Plan Monday at I'm an Organizing Junkie. This week is going to be a low key week at home for us.  They are calling for rain most of the week, YUCK! I am soo tired of rain, and am ready for it to be over.  The good thing is my vegetable plants are loving the rain. I did get some recipe posts up this week, even though I didn't get all of the ones done that I had planned on.  I did get the recipes for myTurkey or Chicken Pot Pie and Baked Shrimp Egg Rolls up.  I do have a few recipes that will be going up on the blog from this week's menu soon. On Thursday afternoon my daughter found a forgotten about bag of mixed berries in the freezer that contained strawberries, raspberries, and blackberries.  I used my Razzleberry Pie recipe to make a pie using it.  I just thawed out the bag of mixed berries and used them in place of the fresh berries called for in the recipe.    Here's what I have planned for this week: links to recipes are in red Monday Breakfast:  M…
