Titanic Unit Study Resources

The Titanic, the ship that was said to be unsinkable hit an iceberg and sunk at sea on April 15, 1912.  Over one hundred years later, this story still draws interest and curiosity, including the interests of my children.  So, with next week marking 103 years since the sinking of the Titanic we are going to spend some time doing a unit study on the Titanic.  While my final lesson plans are not complete, I have compiled a list of the Titanic resources I have found so far.  Once our unit study has been completed I will be sharing those lesson plans with you as well.

We own the book I Survived the Sinking of the Titanic and it is going to be one of the books that we base our unit study off of.

Another book that we own and I plan to use is The Magic Tree House book Tonight on the Titanic.

Two books that I currently do not own but plan to purchase for this study are the Magic Tree House Fact Tracker #7:  Titanic:  A Non-Fiction Companion and You Wouldn't Want to Sail on the Titanic.  My kids absolutely love the You Wouldn't Want to series of books, and we own several but this is one we don't yet own.

You can find several free Titanic Unit Studies and lesson plans online.  I plan to use elements of each to develop our study.  Here are a few of the free Titanic Unit Studies and lesson plans that I have found.

For us a unit study isn't complete without some sort of food item, so this Iceberg Treat from A Teaching Mommy is a must.

Other Titanic Activities:

Make a Paper Model of the Titanic

Titanic Coloring Pages

How to Draw the Titanic

And if your child really likes the Titanic why not let them dress up in this costume as the Titanic Captain?
